Doctors beat Butterworth Jones by 6 wickets

Of the 4 teams that wanted to play us on the 7th we chose a re-match with the Accountants.  Very overcast with rain just down the road, we elected to play 15 overs. Rumour had it that our skipper Sam Powell had gone to N Newton instead, and so Rob Adcock kindly seized the initiative, won the toss and put them in.

With our opening attack of Imogen Mann and wily Sedge, their batsmen were never able to get away. In a mean spell of 1-15 Imogen clean bowled the threatening Edworthy and Sedge spun out two more.  Their innings never really gathered momentum thanks to Steven King, Matt and Will Bere and an over from Jeremy Budd, and they ended on 78.

The rain held off and our openers Matt Bere and John Ogle who initially had to see off the tight bowling of Mortimer and Philips went on to create a platform. After some circumspection Matt rapidly moved into boundary mode, soon reaching his 25; Rob Adcock came and went, John Ogle reached 16 before falling LBW to one that kept low.  It was left to the stalwart Jeremy Minchin and belligerent Chris Cullum to see us home with 13 and 26 respectively with 20 balls and 6 wickets remaining.  The rain reached us just as we were leaving.

PS no news from Sam Powell who must have taken on N Newton single-handedly, perhaps?
