Doctors beat Butterworth Jones by 6 wickets

Butterworths won the toss and elected to bat which, in the event, they did with some temerity, their score inching along towards a respectable total of 92 thanks to the overall excellence of our bowling.

Steve King opened from the College end and bowled both their openers Jenkinson and the threatening Edworthy. At the other end Imogen Mann contributed a very good line and length and was rewarded with a late wicket when she returned at the end of their innings, finishing with the creditable figures of 4𢴖. Their only batsman to make a total, Webber, was well run out for 24 after a mix-up, and with half their overs gone their score was a paltry 28. The Docs used eight bowlers, Will Beer showing a tidy turn of speed for 3-0-9, George King finding a good length to bowl out D. Siger just as he was getting set.

Doctors reply was far from straight-forward. John Ogle dragged one onto his stumps in the first over and Rob Adcock smote hard for 13 accumulated runs. Nick Eaton made a fine 20 but then Will Beer, George King and Kevin Phillips went cheaply with the score at 4-40 at the midway point. Matt Beer was then joined by Graham Fergusson who together in the gloaming, provided sensible batting against some exacting bowling to narrowly ease us to victory with 5 balls remaining.

This fixture had been generated after Taunton School had discovered they had double-booked.
