Doctors beat Butterworth Jones by 28 runs

The Cannington ground had the appearance of a crisp Weetabix, brown and glowing in the late afternoon heat.

John Ogle correctly called heads and elected to bat.  On a super-fast outfield and with 4 batsmen scoring possibles, Tom Guppy 26, PK 25, Andrew Guppy 26, and returnee Doug Johnson smashing 25, not to mention an erudite 24 from Rob Adcock and a 6 over mid-wicket off the last ball by new-comer Jordan the Doctors piled on an impressive 165.

In reply Butterworths set about their task with urgency.  Our opening bowlers Charles Macadam and Sedge bowled accurately with Sedge finding turn to remove both Bayer and Dean clean bowled. The match then hung in the balance until PK bowled Sizer with an excellent delivery giving Docs the momentum. Butterworths continued to press the accelerator however and it was only the skill of Jordan and Johnson that prevented them catching up. The Docs kept taking crucial wickets and at the end of their 20 overs in diminishing light Butterworths could only reach 137 with 7 down.
