Doctors lost to Spaxton by 9 wickets

Having lost the toss the Docs batted first but made heavy weather on a track that looked a little past its best. Four wickets fell cheaply, Sam Powell caught for 6, John Ogle playing round his fourth ball was clean-bowled, Rob Adcock was caught for 1, and Charles Macadam was unaccountably bowled first ball.  But in-form Chris Cullum carried his bat for a resourceful 28, ably supported by Hugh Ogle who thumped 30 in just 14 balls including one mighty 6 that landed half-way up a pine tree over mid-on, and another somewhere over mid-wicket; returning at the end he added 4 more. Andrew Jeans was unfortunately run out for 1, while Nick Eaton helped himself to 12.

The youthful Spaxton side, ably captained by long-horn but evergreen Keith Bellinger found run-scoring less difficult than we had despite the efforts of Sam Powell who took the one wicket to fall in his opening spell of 4 overs for 19. Sedge bowled tidily as did Imogen Mann (0-15 off 3), but to no avail. The total was reached with 4 overs in reserve.

It was a dry evening, and we all enjoyed a good chat afterwards.
