Doctors lost to Quantock Stags by 12 runs Stags won the toss
and elected to bat on an overcast but warm evening. Their early batting was
held in check by our opening bowlers Will Bere who finished his 4 overs with
1-18, and Sedge who took 2-25. Then
arrived the Dickens lads, James and Will, who now hit the ball harder than
they used to and both retired with 30 to their name. Jeremy Budd clean bowled
the dangerous James Coates for 2 and finished with 2-12 off his tidy
bowling. Reduction of the overs to 17
failed to dent the total of 116 that Stags amassed. In reply Rob
Adcock was bowled for 1 while Keith Powell grafted 14, and Chris Cullum
struck a fine 33 off just 16 balls including 7 4’s. Matt Bere and John Ogle
added a few in minimal light, but the youthful eyes of Will Bere and some
fine straight drives for 17 helped us to a total of 104 which alas was just
not quite enough but in the deteriorating conditions was quite creditable. |
