Taunton School Staff beat Doctors

            And so the worm turns..

On another perfect Summer evening Doctors bowling attack was put to the sword and in some cases, the distance, by Taunton School Staff’s impressive batting line-up who finished on 186-1.  Tom Adams took the only wicket to fall, clean-bowling Heal for 28.  Doctors’ 7 other bowlers laboured without success, Graham Ferguson 0-2-8 and Matt Bere 0-2-16 producing the best figures.

In reply, Doctors’ wickets tumbled to Taunton’s tight and clever bowling; two of them also, Tom Guppy and Matt Bere took lame and required runners. The Powells, father and son, opened and managed only 3 runs between them, and when Ferguson and Bere also fell to unaccustomed low scores (10 and 1 respectively), it was left to John Ogle and Rob Adcock to make a rescue attempt; but despite labouring and picking off the rare bad ball, Ogle holed out on 28 going for a bonus point, and Adcock was also caught after contributing 3 thumping off-side boundaries in his 15. Guppy having added some tail-end flourish stretched his injured leg once too often down the track and was easily stumped by their Australian keeper, trying one more big hit off the beguiling Simon Hogg, for 12.  Doctors closed on a disappointing 77 with Mark Constance and Sedge Seymour unused.
