Taunton School Staff beat Doctors by 44 runs

Thanks to some magnificent spin from Graham Ferguson who clean bowled 3 of their top players and finished with 5-16 and some accurate and penetrating overs from Mat Beere, Will and Steve King, Taunton were uncharacteristically restricted to 117.

Sensing that this total was not beyond our capabilities we set about our task in high spirits. However our openers Jeremy Minchin and Rob Adcock were abruptly back in the pavilion, soon followed by Matt Beere, stumped going down the wicket, and John Ogle who was adjudged leg-before to a ball that moved and failed to bounce.  Dicky Budd was also undone by the searching seam of Richard Godfrey while at the other end Luke Waller wove his magic. Neither produced a loose ball in their 8 opening overs and we were reduced to something like 15-5.  But for the canny Chris Cullum who batted through to the end for a well-crafted 31, and that man Fergs who was eventually bowled for 20, our score would have been dismal. Thanks to extras of 13 we reached 73, but 8 of our batsmen contributed only 5 between them.

Ah well, never mind! It was another lovely evening and we all enjoyed ourselves, some more than others.
