Doctors lost to Burnham CC by 56 runs

Burnham         153 for 7

Doctors           97 all out

An early wicket for Sam Powell (1-21) was balanced by sprightly innings from Peter Gaylard and B.House.  When House (19) was run out by a fine throw by Will Griffiths and then Phil Barker took a good running catch to dismiss Gaylard (13) off Peter Reed (1-20) honours were roughly even.  The game was changed by a fine partnership between Birkett and P.Harris who put on 60 quickfire runs before both retiring unbeaten on 30.  Doctors ground fielding was well below its usual standard until wicketkeeper Harry Lee effected a smart run out, but D.Aston and C.Harding kept up the momentum until Harding (15) was the first of three victims in an interesting spell from Andrew Jeanes (3-27).  Aston remained undefeated on 17.

Doctors’ reply did not go well as J.Annison (2-16) and J.Marsh (2-20) reduced them to 3 for 16 of which 14 were extras. Wickets were freely gifted until a freewheeling stand between Lee and Powell briefly threatened to turn the tide.  When Lee (14) holed out to Marsh off E.Booth (1-11) and Powell (13) was bowled by Harding (1-15) the game was up.  Aston (1-7) and House (1-9) made further inroads and despite a fighting 32 from Jeanes and 11 not out by Robert Seymour the Doctors fell woefully short.
