Burnham beat Doctors by 10 runs

Burnham                     118 for 3

Doctors                      108 all out

Burnham’s Harding and J.Birkett got their team off to a flier with 43 runs from the first 4 overs, mostly through exemplary straight driving.  Before the bowlers had time to draw breath Birkett (26 n.o.) had retired and there was some relief for the visitors when Robert Seymour (1-28) deceived Harding (19) into lobbing a gentle catch to Peter Reed at extra cover and Connor Keohane (1-19) ended an attacking cameo from Tipler (13) via a sharp stumping by Keith Powell.  The respite did not last long as a succession of chances, half-chances and near misses went begging.  Leg side hitting from Lewis (28 retired) and good use of the feet and straight hitting by Worthington (23 n.o.) took the game away from Doctors.  Keohane effected a run out and Reed and Phil Barker gained a bit of control in the final overs but by then it was too late.

The start of Doctors’ innings could hardly have been more different to that of their hosts.  The off breaks of Tipler and left arm spinners from Harding (3-16) ripped through the top order with only Powell (10) reaching double figures.  House (1-19) chipped in with a wicket and at 51 for 6 there seemed no way back, but then an excellent partnership between Keohane and Barker breathed life into the moribund innings.  Barker (26) was caught at long on near the end.  Keohane finished unbeaten on 28 as Tipler (5-15) finished off the tail and keeper Coles had three stumpings.
