Doctors beat Environment Agency by 61 runs

Doctors                       124 for 5

Environment Agency  63 for 6

Richard Budd fell early, chasing a wide ball from C.Matthews (1-11) and David Williamson and Phil Barker were forced into a period of caution and strike rotation on a slow, damp Cannington pitch.  The need to push on accounted for Williamson (12) caught of James Yarham (1-9) but exemplary footwork and handsome driving from Barker (30, retired) provided the necessary impetus.  This was sustained by Harry Lee (12) until he top-edged a pull of Madison (1-18) and then by the strength of Sam Powell and the craft of John Ogle.  The Agency’s catching was fallible but Powell (26) was caught near the end off Hayes (1-13).  Ogle remained unbeaten on 25.

Charles Macadam and Peter Reed made good use of the difficult pitch and when R.Shillito was bowled by Reed (1-11) off an edge the visitors were 1 for 14 off 6 overs. There was no respite against Powell (1-3) and Robert Seymour (2-11), the latter taking a wicket with his first ball as Barker sprinted in from mid on to scoop up the catch.  Jeremy Budd behind the stumps took two sharp catches and when Lee (2-2) chipped in with two more wickets the game was up.  William Ogle bowled well without any luck as E Barnes (25 n.o.) and Weller (14 n.o.) provided entertainment at the end in a stand which doubled their team’s total.
