Kings College Staff beat Doctors by 18 runs

Kings                           147 for 8

Doctors                      129 for 4

Kings’ openers fell quickly to Imogen Mann (2-11) thanks to catches by Harry Lee and a spectacular effort from John Ogle at short midwicket, but this merely opened the floodgates as S.Florey and Val Samillion drove and pulled with style and freedom on the hard, true Kings wicket.  Florey (29) was bowled by Connor Keohane (1-17) and Samillion (30) retired but Ollie Butterworth and Phil Lewis took the baton without a hitch and kept up the onslaught.  By the half-way point Doctors were anticipating another huge target but Lewis (34) retired and Butterworth (28) was stumped by Georgina Adcock off Andrew Paisley. A run out from deep long off by Lee and fine ‘death’ bowling by Sam Powell (1-26), Lee and Paisley (3-7) hauled Doctors back into the match and restricted the home team to a ‘par’ total.

Lee (31 n.o.) and Tom Millard (32 n.o.) built a solid platform with an opening partnership of 60 at six an over but when they retired the need for acceleration provoked a mini collapse.  Powell was very well caught by Mason at deep midwicket off Gareth Cousins (1-15) and there were two wickets for J.Lawson (2-18) including the in-form John Ogle (12).  Cameos from Keohane (11) and Paisley (11 n.o.) got Doctors within range but ultimately not close enough.
