Doctors lost to Musgrove Park Hospital by 9 wickets

Doctors           81 for 8

MPH               82 for 1

Doctors made a dreadful start as Des Sealey (1-10) and Mike Haycock (1-3) exploited a slow, low Cannington strip by bowling straight and full.  Hywel Thomas (2-5) and Simon Ingram (1-1) did likewise and after 11 overs the home side were 22 for 5.  David Gwynne Jones (21) fought back valiantly despite injuring a hamstring muscle until he was run out by his runner.  Tom Langston (15) gave useful support but was stumped by Olly MacLaren off Justin Pepperell (1-12) and Pete Dacombe (1-10) took a wicket in the final over.  The best of Doctor’s batsmen was Georgina Adcock who rattle off a stylish 15 not out at the death.

Batting suddenly became a lot easier as the MPH openers set off in pursuit of their small target with Doctors’ bowlers straining to take wickets quickly. There was a flicker of hope for Doctors when Peter Reed (1-16) took a wicket thanks to a slick stumping by Adcock, but Pepperell and Tom Fleming were able to tick over quietly without any pressure to score quickly and both batsmen did their job efficiently and without risk.  Doctors rotated their bowlers but made no further impression.  Fleming (33 n.o.) retired but Pepperell (24 n.o.) and MacLaren (19 n.o.) finished the match with 5 overs to spare.
