Doctors beat Bridgwater Solicitors by 9 wickets

Solicitors                     139 all out

Doctors                       141 for 1

Adam Caswell and T.Lambert took 18 from the first over of the match as Imogen Mann had difficulty controlling her line in the blustery wind.  Fortunes changed rapidly when Lambert (12 was bowled in the second over by Oliver Budd (2-19) and Mann (1-29) followed up with a wicket maiden.  Budd’s wrist spin generated lavish turn and bounce on the dry, cracked Cannington wicket and with Phil Barker (1-11) getting significant swing at the other end batting was tricky. Wickets fell steadily and when Caswell (18) top edged the excellent Robert Seymour (1-4) to keeper Graham Fergusson the score was 61 for 5.  Simon Brown and M.Castellano came together in a vital partnership of 43 which took the score to 104.  They were finally separated after the drinks interval when Brown (16) was lbw to Peter Reed (1-25).  J.Buller (13) gave useful support but when he was dismissed by Chris Griffiths (1-23) and Castellano (38) was bowled by the second ball from Charles Macadam (1-2) the end was nigh.  Sam Powell (2-0) finished off the last two batsmen in three balls.

Keith Powell (11) contributed a sprightly cameo but was bowled by Lambert (1-34) and thereafter the innings was all about a quality partnership between Fergusson and Sam Powell. Each batsman survived a high, top edged chance to midwicket and one six from Powell just cleared deep midwicket but this apart they played aggressive risk-free cricket.  Lambert, Tom Smith and L.Wilcox generated pace, lift and some seam movement but Fergusson (51 n.o.) and Powell (50 n.o.) played each ball on its merits and mixed singles with boundaries through a full 360 degrees.  When both retired it was left to Macadam and Will Griffiths to finish the job with a full 20 overs in hand.
