Doctors lost to Quantock Stags by 1 run

Stags               87 for 4

Doctors           86 for 3

Stags took first use of a soggy Cannington wicket and had to work hard for runs against accurate bowling by Sam Powell and Phil Barker.  James Coates succumbed to a dry wicket shot against Barker (1-26) which resulted in a steepling top edge to keeper Graham Fergusson, but then James Dickens and S.Keith shared an invaluable stand of 40 which ended when Keith (23) was bowled by Charles Macadam (1-14).  Dickens (25 n.o.) retired to allow his brother Will (11)  to take up the cudgels but his attractive cameo was terminated by a tame chip to Keith Powell at mid on off Peter Reed (1-26), whereupon the Stags’ innings quietly petered out..

When Doctors replied Matt House found yet another unlucky way of getting out, bowled off his pads by Gordon Elkins (1-22) but Fergusson and Keith Powell put their team into a strong position with a well-paced partnership of 44.  The match turned when Powell (19) pulled a hamstring and was promptly bowled by James Coates (1-13).  Fergusson retired on 25 not out and the new batsmen struggled in the gloomy conditions against the pace of James Dickens and Will Dickens.  John Ogle (13 n.o.) hit out boldly to give Doctors a flicker of hope but an excellent final over by Will Dickens yielded only 6 runs when 8 were required.
