Taunton School Staff beat Doctors by  wickets

Doctors              131 for 7

Taunton School  133 for 4

Doctors openers were pinned down by accurate bowling from Harry Popplewell and Dan Godfrey with only 22 runs coming from the first 6 overs, but Rob Dickens joined the fray as the bowling changes came and started to accelerate with Tom Eve (22).  When Eve was caught at deep midwicket off Godfrey he was replaced by Harry Lee.  Rob and Harry both retired on 30 not out after some fine batting, but thereafter Doctors struggled to maintain the scoring rate with only Sam Powell (12) and John Ogle (14) contributing,  Ogle was run out going for 2 runs off the final ball, leaving Taunton to chase 132 to win.

The Taunton innings also started cautiously against tidy swing bowling from Powell and Barker, but Kelly (30 no) and Cook (23) eventually found their range until Peter Reed (1-26) claimed Cook lbw.  Taunton looked to be cruising as they stayed ahead of the required run rate with Tom Langston and Andrew Paisley taking the brunt of an assault from Godfrey until he also retired on 31. Doctors began to claw their way back into the game with two tight overs from Harry Lee yielding 2 wickets for 4 runs but sadly it proved to be too little too late as Whitworth took 12 runs off Harry’s next over to see Taunton home.
