Taunton School Staff beat Doctors by 5 wickets

Doctors                        108 for 8

Taunton School            109 for 5

Doctors’ nemesis team were far too good in a very one-sided contest.

The visitors began promisingly as Matt House (12) struck three classical boundaries before gifting his wicket to Luke Waller with a lofted drive to Simon Hogg at long off.  John Ogle and Will Chandler looked tidy and secure until Ogle (11) played an uncharacteristic shot across the line to Waller (2-27) and Chandler (11) drove an inswinger from Chris Chalcraft (1-20) in the air to extra cover.   Thereafter the innings went into a sad decline with Rob Adcock (19) playing a lone hand as the pace of Andrew Jeanes (2-20) and the wiles of wrist spinner Hogg (3-2) made mincemeat of the lower order.

The match was decided in the first 5 overs of the reply as Dave Tarr once again played an attacking innings of high quality.  His 35 contained 4 fours and 2 sixes and jet-streamed the total to 55 with sound support from J.Springer (15).  When Tarr retired there was a hiatus in which David Gwynne Jones bowled tightly while Chandler (3-2) ripped out three quick wickets.  Hogg and S.Robinson snuffed out any Doctors’ hopes of a comeback and the game was all but over when Chandler at deep square leg took a fine diving catch to provide Mike Smart with the wicket of Hogg (11).  Smart (2-22) dismissed Waller, caught and bowled next ball but Robinson (24 n.o.) and Jonathan Brunet saw their side home with 28 balls to spare.
