Doctors lost to Taunton Deane Council by 3 runs

TDBC ††††††††††† 121 for 4

Doctors†††††††††† 118 for 6

††Honours were even after the opening exchanges as Robert Seymour and Shay Keohane bowled incisively and created a succession of near chances and Phil Andrews and Gareth Clifford scored at six an over.Keohane (1-15) eventually bowled Clifford (14) and Peter Reed lured Kevin Dunn into a top edged pull which resulted in a high, swirling catch, well taken by Hugh Ogle at midwicket.Larry Watkins then combined with Andrews to push the score along until Andrews (25 n.o.) retired and Watkins (16) was bowled by Reed (2-27).Doctorsí catching was far from infallible but there was the usual wicket for Phil Barker ((1-31) courtesy of an athletic, twisting catch by keeper Georgina Adcock.A fine innings by Hoskins (27 n.o.) with capable support from D.Cook (13 n.o.) assured an above-par total.

†† John Ogle perished soon after the start of Doctorsí innings, run out going for a second run to Hoskins at deep midwicket.Keith and Sam Powell put their team into a good position with aggressive stroke play and good running in the face of ultra-defensive fields but both fell to Watkins, Sam Powell (24) to a great running, diving catch by Dave Sizer at deep midwicket and Keith Powell (23) to a top edge, taken by keeper Cook.Richard Budd compiled a perfectly paced innings of 25 (retired) but then a wicket from Peter Weaver (1-22) led to a hiatus in run scoring and Doctors fell behind the required run rate for the first time.A good stand between Adcock and Hugh Ogle hauled the home side back into the game but when Ogle (12) was crucially bowled by R.Andrews (1-13) they needed 11 from the final over.A boundary for Adcock and three singles brought victory within sight but Adcock (18) was bowled by Watkins (3-22) and the game was up.
